Replace complicated language with simpler dialogue
Complex language requires team members to utilise a higher level of concentration to comprehend what is being presented. Using shorter and easier to understand words does not mean that your message is being downplayed. Credibility and persuasion can be achieved with simplistic language and ultimately it has further reach.
Use metaphors to communicate complex information
Metaphors can be powerful when trying to familiarise employees with abstract concepts that may be difficult to make sense of. Naturally when learning new information, an audience will try to align the information with a concept with which they are already acquainted. Metaphors allow leaders to create vivid imagery that is more likely to stay in their team member’s minds.
Make data and statistics engaging and memorable
Humanising data and placing numbers into perspective by presenting them in exciting and engaging ways is more persuasive to team members. Making the data relevant to your teams view of the company increases the value of the data and the role it can play in educating your employees.
Reiterate the company’s vision to align teams
Reiterating the company’s vision to your team members will motivate them to see their work as a part of a larger purpose. Having a strong vision statement based on aspirations for the company’s potential impact on the world is the crucial to leading meaningful growth and succeeding as an organisation.
