What is Constructive Feedback?

What is constructive feedback and why is it important?

“When you highlight someone’s shortcomings, you actually hinder their learning. They say that managers should encourage employees to worry less about their weaknesses and instead focus on their strengths.” (Chappelow & McCauley, 2019)

This method builds an individual’s performance by encouraging and promoting confidence using a positive and forward-thinking approach. For example, using words like ‘develop’ or ‘improve’ instead of ‘poor’, ‘not good enough’, and so on make a big difference to reinforcing a positive message and are key to learning and development.
